01/ Overview
The route
Exploring the pre-Alpine landscape on cross-country skiing trails – this is promised by the trail over four Alps. At the same time a wonderful panoramic view over Sarganserland can be enjoyed.
From the Flumserberg, Tannenbodenwiese stop, it is just under 300 m to the start in Madils. The 17-kilometre trail initially crosses open slopes, gaining altitude steadily as it passes the Prodissimo restaurant. The circuit involves around 600 metres of ascent in total, most noticeably on the outward leg.
The climb continues at Alp Panüöl. Near the Ziger, the trail reaches its highest point at around 1'840 m. It then descends to Alp Fursch, where the rustic inn of the same name stands directly on the route.
The return leg follows a wide arc, mostly downhill. Open terrain continues to dominate, interspersed with sections crossing moorland. Towards the end, the trail descends to the lowest part of the circuit before reaching Flumserberg, Madils again after a little over five hours.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
