01/ Overview

The route

This classic variation of the Arventritt is called the Hinterstock. And its ancient name means what it promises!

From the Arvenbüel, Arven bus stop, it is only a few steps to the start of the roughly five-kilometre cross-country ski trail. It begins on the edge of Arvenbüel and initially leads across open terrain. Meadows and pastures dominate the scenery before the circuit enters the forest. With around 170 metres of elevation gain, the undulating profile features short climbs and descents.

After reaching its lowest point in the middle section, the trail begins to climb again. Alternating between forest, open terrain and damp meadows, it ascends to its highest point at around 1,270 m, reached after just over three kilometres near Flügespitz. The track then curves back towards Arvenbüel in several sweeping bends. After a good hour and a half, the circuit ends back at its starting point in Arvenbüel, only around 150 m from the Arvenbüel, Arven bus stop.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
