01/ Overview
The route
This part of the Thurweg, which starts at Weinfelden, leads you through emerald-green forests alongside the River Thur. Finally you reach Kradolf, a sleepy little village with vibrant nature.
From the Weinfelden, BBZ stop, the route initially leads through the residential area and out to the edge of the town. Open meadows and fields soon dominate the landscape. The modest differences in elevation make the approximately ten-kilometre route pleasant. It mostly follows yellow-marked hiking trails, with a few short sections outside the marked hiking network.
Along the way, broad open spaces alternate with the edges of settlements and small patches of woodland. Near Bürglen, the castle lies a few hundred metres off the route. The hike, however, continues on its quiet course towards Kradolf. Near the end, the route passes Restaurant Sonne Au.
The route climbs almost imperceptibly towards its destination. In Kradolf, it reaches its highest point at around 460 m. After just over two and a half hours, the hike ends directly at the Kradolf stop.
