01/ Overview
The route
The hike from Amlikon to Frauenfeld leads between Thur and Lauche over the Wellenberg. Passing interesting buildings, the trail arrives at the well-known Stälibuck view tower by Frauenfeld, which provides a splendid panoramic view on clear days.
From the Amlikon, Unterdorf bus stop, the hiking trail leads out of the village into the gently rolling Thurgau countryside. Open meadows and fields alternate with small settlements and short stretches of woodland. The route passes Ave Maria am hohen Weg before continuing along the ridge.
After Lustdorf, the trail climbs into the forest. The highest section is reached around the Egg barbecue area, where the route rises to about 660 m. It then continues in a gentle succession of ascents and descents on well-maintained hiking trails, soon with open clearings among the trees once again.
Beyond Obholz, the longer descent begins. A particularly verdant final section follows the Mühletobelbach, and later the route briefly meets the Murg. It then leads through Lindenpark into the centre of Frauenfeld and on to the railway station. Just over four hours should be allowed for the 17 km hike, with around 400 metres of elevation gain in total.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
