Trans Swiss Trail, Stage 19/32

A lakeside promenade along the Vierwaldstättersee from Beckenried into the impressive Risleten Gorge, with its ancient dinosaur traces. After a steep climb, the romantic high-level trail towards Seelisberg. Far below, the shimmering turquoise lake.

From the Stans stop, the approximately 21-kilometre hike initially leads through the village, passing the Church of St Peter and Paul. Settlements and open meadows soon begin to alternate. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail continues via Buochs to Beckenried, by which point around half of the six-hour route has been completed.

Beyond Beckenried, the route reaches the shore of Lake Lucerne. Its character now changes markedly: a red-and-white-waymarked mountain hiking trail climbs through wooded terrain from the lowest point of the route. The long final ascent accounts for a substantial part of the approximately 800 metres of ascent. Only shortly before the destination does the mountain hiking trail become an easier hiking trail again. Near Seelisberg, at around 800 metres, lies the highest point of the route. A little later, the hike ends at the Seelisberg, Dorf stop.
