01/ Overview
The route
Over five kilometres, Altstetten reveals its many sides: from the old village centre with its church and Lindenplatz to the residential neighbourhoods of Grünau and the waterside.
From the Zürich, Salzweg stop, the city walk initially climbs gently. After just over half a kilometre, the route reaches its highest point near Buechhoger, at around 440 m. It then descends gently through Altstetten, part of the city of Zürich since 1934 and now its largest quarter.
Passing the Fröschenbrunnen, the route continues to the old village centre. The Alte Kirche Altstetten stands close to the path; beside it, the Neue Kirche was built from 1939 onwards. Lindenplatz follows immediately afterwards. Between houses, squares and more open green spaces, the quarter reveals the diversity that gives the «Züri z Fuess» city walk its theme.
The route leads via Werdwies into Grünau. At the community centre, a cafeteria and playground lie close to the route. Towards the end, the Limmat draws near; shortly before the destination, the path meets the Hauserkanal. After around five kilometres, the walk ends at the Zürich, Tüffenwies stop.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
