01/ Overview
The route
This leisurely and scenic route connects the Üetliberg mountain and the Albis Pass. While walking along the Albisgrat ridge, the panoramic views stretch from the Black Forest to the northern foothills of the Jura and the Glarus Alps. This is a very popular route with several restaurants and places to rest along the way.
From the Zürich Triemli stop, the hike initially follows the Döltschibach. The city is soon left behind, and the broad, yellow-waymarked hiking trail climbs through the forest to Uetliberg. Zürich’s 870-metre local mountain is reached after just over an hour. The long ridge walk then begins, heading south over wooded ridges and open meadows in gentle undulations.
At Felsenegg, it is worth pausing at the viewpoint before the route continues along the Albis ridge to Buchenegg. This small pass at 786 metres has two restaurants offering an opportunity for refreshments. Beyond it, the trail climbs more steeply again and reaches the highest point of the hike at just under 900 metres. The final section remains characterised by forest and clearings and descends to the Albis Passhöhe. After around 13 kilometres and four hours, the hike ends near the Langnau a.A., Albispasshöhe stop.
