01/ Overview
The route
This urban walk in Zurich follows the trail of the 2,000-watt society, combining neighbourhood life, sustainable urban development and surprisingly green corners between Albisriederplatz and Altstetten.
From the Zürich, Albisriederplatz stop, the urban walk initially leads through Aussersihl and Wiedikon. Right at the start stands a fountain with a water-spouting mastiff. Passing the Triemlifussweg, the route climbs gently and reaches its highest point at around 450 m. Along the way, attention turns to the 2,000-watt society: examples in the neighbourhood show where energy consumption and CO₂ emissions can be reduced.
Around Triemli, the urban fabric becomes more open in places. The route follows the Döltschibach for a short stretch before descending to Albisrieden. The Alte Mühle and the Blüemliquartier add their own distinctive touches here, while allotment gardens form green islands between the buildings.
Towards the end, the route passes through the former bonded warehouse district and by the businesses along Rautistrasse. The A-Park development once again picks up the theme of sustainable urban development. After just under five kilometres, the walk ends at the Zürich, Freihofstrasse stop.
