01/ Overview
The route
Nine themed stations, open stands of birch and furrowed limestone pavements characterise this short circuit through the Bödmerenwald at the foot of Roggenstöckli.
Unter Roggenloch lies away from public transport links; the nearest stop, Bisisthal, Mettlen, is almost 4 km away. At the Primeval Forest Pavilion, an exhibition provides an introduction to the trail and its nine forest-themed stations. The mountain path then climbs across alpine pastures towards Oberes Roggenloch.
After only a short distance, the route reaches its highest point near Roggenstöckli at around 1,630 m. Open stands of birch grow in the sparse woodland, interspersed with the limestone pavements typical of the area. The trail continues to Bödmeren and enters the Bödmerenwald. Woodland and open terrain alternate as the circuit descends again via Murmeltier-Plangg and Stägen.
Towards the end, the mountain path leads to the Unteres Roggenloch alpine inn. A few steps later, after just over an hour and around 3.5 km, it returns to the starting point at Unter Roggenloch.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
