Ybriger 7-Egg-Weg

A high-altitude trail along seven distinctive peaks in Central Switzerland and through the Ibergeregg nature preserve, winner of the 2019 «Landscape of the Year» award. The views of the Alps, lakes and valleys are awesome.

The hike begins at the Klein Sternen stop, already at a scenic elevation. A short ascent leads to the highest point near Chli Stärnen at just over 1,800 m. The yellow-marked hiking trail then crosses open meadows and pastures to the Spirstock viewpoint. This first section is characterised by constant ups and downs, though descent predominates overall. The route continues via Sternenegg towards Ibergeregg.

By the Marienkapelle, the pass is almost reached. Ibergeregg connects Oberiberg and Schwyz; the lowest section of the hike is also located in this area. From here, the trail climbs once more through the open, rolling landscape. Stägleren is a good place for a break before crossing Stäglerenegg. Finally, the trail passes the Bruder-Klausen-Kapelle and descends to Brunni, Holzegg. The Holzegg stop is located right by the destination. Around three hours should be allowed for the approximately eleven kilometres, with 340 metres of ascent and 740 metres of descent.
