01/ Overview
The route
The geological trail climbs from Oberiberg to the open alpine pastures on Roggenstock, reaches its highest point near Bockeggen and returns to the village past Restaurant Buoffenalp.
The Geological Trail on Roggenstock starts at the Oberiberg, Neuseewen bus stop, almost in the heart of the village. Before long, the trail leaves the houses behind and climbs steeply across open meadows. A short section runs outside the marked hiking trail network, after which the circuit continues on a yellow-waymarked hiking trail.
After around three kilometres, the highest point is reached near Bockeggen at approximately 1'570 m. Around Roggenstock, the geological trail tells the story of the area’s geological past. Open alpine pastures dominate the landscape; later, the route passes through damper meadows and descends in a broad arc towards Buoffenalp. Seeblisee lies slightly off the route.
The trail passes directly by Restaurant Buoffenalp. It then continues downhill until the first houses of Oberiberg reappear towards the end. Passing Restaurant Sager, the circuit closes after around nine kilometres and just over three hours at the Oberiberg, Neuseewen bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
