Via Albula/Bernina, Stage 10/10

The gently descending route on the way to Italy leads through orchards, chestnut groves and vineyards. On foot, you almost completely circle the famous spiral viaduct of Brusio. Lago di Poschiavo, the tree-covered steep mountainsides and the Veltlin valley opening up offer striking views.

From the Le Prese stop, the hike first leads to Lago di Poschiavo. The path stays close to the shore as far as Miralago before climbing through the forest to the highest point. This lies near Mota dal Meschin at around 1,100 m; the summit itself is off the route. A short section here is not waymarked.

The route then continues across open meadows and through small settlements, followed by the long descent through the Puschlav. The hiking trail reaches Brusio via Piazzo and passes close to the spiral viaduct. This striking structure forms a clear landmark on the increasingly settled valley slopes.

Beyond Campocologno, the path becomes narrower in places and takes on the character of a mountain trail. On the Italian side, it continues downhill to Tirano, the lowest point of the tour at around 430 m. Just under four hours should be allowed for the 14 kilometres. The nearest stop, Campocologno, Stazione, is just under 3 km from the destination.
