01/ Overview
The route
From Bremgarten’s upper town through woodland and meadows to Gnadenthal: this almost level hike links narrow town streets, a lake near Hegnau and the monastery church at the destination.
The hike begins at the Bremgarten AG, Obertorplatz bus stop and leads through Bremgarten. Right at the start, the route passes the Schlössli, a castle-like town house that evolved from a medieval castle. The route then leaves the houses behind and follows yellow-marked paths through the forest. Near Hegnau, the lake comes into view; shaded stretches of woodland and open meadows then alternate.
After around six kilometres, Fahr lies slightly off the route. The path remains almost level, gaining a little height only towards the end. At just over 370 m, it reaches its highest point near Hürst. It then descends through open countryside to Gnadenthal. Restaurant Gnadenthal is directly on the route; a few steps further on stands the monastery church. The destination is near the Niederwil AG, Gnadenthal stop.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
