Aargauer Weg, Stage 6/6

On the trail between the small Habsburg town of Bremgarten and the imposing memorial site of Muri, impressive architectural witnesses of the time bring back to life what was once Europe's most important aristocratic family and reveal exciting facts about prominent individuals of the Habsburg dynasty.

From Bremgarten railway station, the hiking trail leads out of the town. Stretches of woodland alternate with open meadows and fields, while the gradients remain gentle. Around halfway along the route, the trail runs directly beside the Flachsee. The approximately 1.4-kilometre-long southern section of the Reuss reservoir forms the scenic centrepiece of the hike.

Beyond the lake, the route continues through the Freiamt. It passes Werd and Gizlen and leads via Althäusern through open farmland, with gentle, steady ups and downs. Shortly before Hasli, the trail reaches its highest point at around 460 m. The small difference in elevation and the consistently yellow-waymarked hiking trail make the 14-kilometre route pleasantly accessible.

Towards the end, the trail follows the Bünz for a short stretch. The route then continues into Muri and ends at the railway station. Just over three and a half hours should be allowed for the entire hike.
