01/ Overview
The route
A short, steady ascent through forest and moorland to Alp Mülimäs. Along the way, views open up over Lucerne, Lake Lucerne, the Rigi and the Central Alps.
The roughly three-and-a-half-kilometre ascent begins at Krienseregg intermediate station. The yellow-marked hiking trail initially descends gently into the forest and reaches the barefoot trail at Drachenmoor. It then continues through the wetland of Foremoos; amid trees and waterlogged meadows, the Rotbach and Wissbach frame this tranquil stretch of the route.
Before long, the trail begins to climb more steadily. At the Mülimäs ski hut, the view opens up: Lucerne, Lake Lucerne and the Central Alps lie in the distance, while the Rigi can also be seen from the rest area. The route continues across Alp Mülimäs to Bielilücke, alternating between forest and open alpine pastures.
The final metres lead up to Fräkmüntegg, where the route reaches its highest point at around 1,400 m after about an hour and a half. At the destination are the mountain restaurant with its terrace and the Dragon Ride mountain station for Pilatus Kulm.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
