Wageti-Rundweg

This popular path along the Kander offers a view of the imposing peaks around Kandersteg. It takes you past the international scout centre, elaborately decorated farmhouses and the idyllic Muggenseeli lake.

From Kandersteg railway station, the circular route initially follows a yellow-waymarked hiking trail to the edge of the village. The terrain remains almost level between open meadows, while the settlement recedes for a while. Despite the short distance, this creates a peaceful alternation between the valley floor and the village. About halfway round, the trail reaches its highest point at just under 1'200 m. Shortly afterwards, it passes Restaurant Crystal.

The character of the route then changes. A longer section follows paths without hiking waymarks through Hinder de Büele and back into the built-up area of Kandersteg. Towards the end, Krauterei Edelweiss and the Reformed church stand directly on the route. From here, it is not far to the railway station, where the four-kilometre circuit ends after just under an hour. With only around 30 metres of ascent and descent, the hike remains pleasantly easy.
