01/ Overview

The route

Gentle climb alongside the Glisbach stream, through forest and moorland, over the Hahnenmoospass, then down to Lenk, superbly set in the Hinter Simmental basin, with spectacular waterfalls and the perfect backdrop of the Wildstrubel massif.

It is only a few steps from the Adelboden, Post bus stop to the starting point. Right at the beginning stands the late-Gothic village church dating from the 15th century. The route then leaves the village behind and climbs on broad hiking trails via Gilbach to Geilsbüel. Open meadows and pastures dominate the ascent, interspersed with short stretches of forest.

The route continues to the Hahnenmoospass, which connects Adelboden and Lenk. At just under 1'960 m, this is also the highest point of the hike; the Berghotel Hahnenmoospass stands close to the trail. The long ascent is now complete.

Around 1'000 metres of descent follow. The route initially crosses open terrain, followed later by alternating pastures and forest. Towards Lenk, the trail takes on the character of a mountain path in places before reaching the valley floor and the first houses. After 14 kilometres and just over four and a half hours, the hike ends at Lenk im Simmental railway station.
