Walserweg Gottardo, Stage 11/14

An impressive trail climbs steeply through the barrier woodland to the Gütsch. The view of the Urseren Valley and the Uri Alps is magnificent here. The high-altitude hike continues past Lake Lutersee and up to Felli Gap. Down through the valley, marked by watercourses, it ends at the Oberalp Pass with its lighthouse.

From the Andermatt, Tourist Info bus stop, the mountain hike leads out of the village and soon climbs steeply. Crossing open slopes, the white-red-white waymarked trail quickly gains elevation, with the forest providing only brief company. Around five hours should be allowed for the 13 kilometres to the Oberalppass, with 1,100 metres of ascent.

Higher up, the terrain becomes barer and rockier. A longer section is unmarked before the mountain trail passes the GÜTSCH mountain inn. The route then traverses the broad slopes above the Oberalptal in a steady succession of ascents and descents. The Lutersee lies a short distance off the route, while the Schneehüenerstock towers above the trail.

Shortly before the Fellilücke, the mountain hike reaches its highest point at around 2,470 metres. From there, the trail crosses the pass and descends at length to the summit of the Oberalppass. The final steps lead to Oberalppass railway station, where the hike ends.
