01/ Overview
The route
On the sunny side of Wildhaus – with spectacular view to the Churfirsten – this circular tour leads form Wildhaus over the high plateau Gamplüt to Alp Fros and back again.
A short approach leads from the Wildhaus, Dorf bus stop to the starting point. Right at the beginning, the winter hiking trail passes the Catholic Church of St Bartholomew and continues between the houses of Wildhaus. The route soon begins to climb; in the open terrain, the views broaden as the village gradually recedes into the distance.
The ascent is spread over just over the first half of the seven-kilometre circuit. After around four and a half kilometres, the highest point is reached at approximately 1,440 m. It lies in the vicinity of Zehespitz. By this point, most of the total ascent of around 360 metres has already been completed.
The winter hiking trail then turns downhill again. It leads back towards Wildhaus across open slopes, with the first houses reappearing towards the end. After around seven kilometres and just under three hours, the circuit finishes back in Wildhaus; the Wildhaus, Dorf bus stop is just under 250 m from the finish.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Winter hiking is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
