01/ Overview
The route
A short wildlife discovery trail for families: information panels about local fauna, frequent chamois sightings and the Alpine panorama at the Arche accompany this loop on Rigi Scheidegg.
The short wildlife trail begins on open meadows at the Rigi Scheidegg mountain station, reached by cable car from Kräbel. Wooden signs mark the circular route and draw attention to traces of native wildlife. At the Rigi Scheidegg Arche, not far from the highest point at around 1,650 m, panoramic views open up across the Alps. The summit of Rigi Scheidegg lies close to the route; the mountain rises above Goldau to the north and Gersau and Gersauerbucht on Lake Lucerne to the south.
Away from the marked hiking trail network, the path crosses open terrain with only minor changes in elevation. With a little luck, chamois can be spotted here. Towards the end, the loop passes directly by the Rigi Scheidegg chapel. After just over half an hour, it returns to the Rigi Scheidegg mountain station.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
