01/ Overview
The route
Eight puzzle stations accompany the family-friendly descent from Rigi Burggeist to Obergschwend. Along the way, Alpine pastures, the Zwärgliwald and a ladder section await.
The Obergschwend–Rigi Burggeist cable car takes puzzle fans of all ages to the starting point at around 1,550 m, which is also the highest point on the route. The Zwärgliweg begins at the Rigi Burggeist mountain inn. A puzzle booklet is available at the top station; eight stations provide clues to the forgotten date of a dwarf’s birthday.
The trail initially descends across open meadows and pastures. Passing Obermatt and Breitebnet, it approaches the Zwärgliwald, where nature experiences, play areas and puzzle stations come together. The mountain hiking trail becomes steeper in the middle section. A ladder section requires care and makes the route unsuitable for dogs.
After the forest, the descent continues on an easier hiking trail. In total, the route, which is just under four kilometres long, descends a little over 550 metres. After around one and a half hours, it ends in Obergschwend, just a few steps from the Gersau, Ober Gschwend bus stop and the cable car valley station.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
