01/ Overview
The route
A route full of charm, romance and authenticity. This winter hike that leads from Zermatt to Furi through the small village of Zmutt, where time seems to have stood still.
The winter hike begins on the outskirts of Zermatt at the Zermatt, ZenStecken stop. The route initially climbs between the last houses and across open slopes. Before long, it passes the hamlet of Zum See, after which short stretches of woodland alternate with open ground. The ascent continues via WigguhĂĽs to Restaurant Edelweiss.
A little later, the winter trail reaches Zmutt and passes right by the village chapel. Above the hamlet, the terrain opens up again. After just over three kilometres, the highest point is reached at around 1'950 m. The trail remains below Bielti before turning downhill into the forest.
The route continues through trees and clearings, gently rising and falling on the way to Furi. Restaurant Furi stands almost directly on the route by the first houses. A few steps further on, the roughly five-kilometre winter hike ends at the Furi stop after just over two hours.
