01/ Overview

The route

Woodland, open uplands and a steep ascent characterise this themed trail near Soulce. Close to Montenol, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,050 m and ends above the village.

The «Au pied des grands rois» themed trail begins at the Soulce, milieu du village bus stop. It passes the Saint-Laurent church as it leads through the village, then soon climbs into the forest. The long ascent defines the first half of the route, gaining around 450 metres in elevation on a yellow-marked hiking trail.

After just over four kilometres, the route reaches its highest point near Montenol at around 1,050 m. Here, the forest increasingly gives way to open meadows and pastures, and the trail begins to descend again. In the second section, a longer stretch does not follow a marked hiking route and leads across open terrain back towards Soulce.

After almost ten kilometres, the three-hour hike ends above Soulce. The Soulce, milieu du village bus stop is around 900 m from the finishing point, requiring an additional walk.
