01/ Overview
The route
A themed trail between Undervelier and Soulce: the route climbs through dense forest to its highest point at around 960 m, then descends across open meadows to the church of Saint-Laurent.
From the Undervelier, poste bus stop, the «Balade de feu» themed trail leads out of the village and soon into the forest. Following the theme of fire and the phoenix, the route climbs steadily up the wooded slope. For the most part, it follows a waymarked hiking trail; higher up, a short section lies outside the marked network.
After around three kilometres, the highest point is reached at about 960 m. The ascent now eases. Between forest and open meadows, the route descends into the valley on the other side, steeply at first and then more gently.
At the first houses of Soulce, the trail passes the church of Saint-Laurent. A little later, the walk of just over two hours ends in the village; from the finish, it is only around 100 m to the Soulce, milieu du village bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
