01/ Overview
The route
Take an easy, comfortable trip up in the chairlift, enjoy the panoramic views of the world-famous mountain trio: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, and then slide back down on a sledge. This is the Apollo sledge run.
The toboggan run begins at the Schiltgrat stop, at just over 2,100 m and the highest point on the route. The Schiltgrathüsi is right by the start. From here, the route descends across open slopes, losing around 500 metres in elevation over four kilometres. After the first section, it reaches Schiltalp, where the mountain restaurant stands directly beside the route.
Below the alp, the descent continues through largely open terrain. The sustained downhill run makes the difference in elevation clearly perceptible before the first houses of Mürren come into view towards the end. The toboggan track leads between meadows into the village, where the descent ends after just under an hour at around 1,640 m. From the finish, it is only around 50 m to the Mürren, Schilthornbahn stop for the return journey.
