01/ Overview

The route

The classic sledge run in Mürren that made film history: In 1969, part of the classic Bond film «On Her Majesty’s Secret Service» was filmed on the infamous «Bob Run».

The roughly three-kilometre descent begins at the Allmendhubel funicular. Almost immediately after the start, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1,900 m, near Allmihubel. From here, the sledging run descends around 260 vertical metres. It initially crosses largely open terrain above Mürren, with only short sections skirting the forest. As the descent continues, the houses of the village gradually draw closer.

On its final section, the route enters the built-up area of Mürren. Around 100 m off the route stands the Roman Catholic Marienkapelle. It was built in 1892–1893 thanks to a donation from the Biel parish priest Jecker and is a daughter church of the Heiliggeist parish in Interlaken. The descent continues between the houses to the finish. After a total of around 40 minutes, the sledging run ends at the Allmendhubelbahn in Mürren; the stop of the same name is located directly beside the finish.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Sledding is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
