01/ Overview
The route
Start from Lauchernalp for a magical descent to Wiler, passing from nature to traditional village life.
It is only a few steps from the «Wiler (Lötschen), Lauchernalp» stop to the start. The sledging descent begins on Lauchernalp at around 1'970 m, its highest point, near Arbächnubel. Shortly afterwards, the route passes directly by Panoramarestaurant Lauchernalp. It then sweeps down towards the valley across open slopes; in the upper section, views extend far across the alp. By the time it reaches Wiler, the six-kilometre route has descended around 580 metres.
Further down, the first houses draw closer before a stretch of woodland replaces the open landscape. Wiler in the Lötschental then comes into view. In the village, the sledging trail passes the Regina Pacis parish church, followed shortly afterwards by Restaurant Lonza. After around one hour and twenty minutes, the route ends at the valley station in Wiler; the stop of the same name is only a few steps from the finish.
