01/ Overview
The route
Remarkable trees, extensive woodland paths and the views from Béridier characterise this circular hike from Delémont via Soyhières and back to the cantonal capital.
The Sentier Quiquerez begins at the Delémont, Château-Musée bus stop on the edge of the old town. Right beside it stands the Château de Delémont, once the summer residence of the Prince-Bishops of Basel. The themed trail focuses on remarkable trees and soon climbs away from the houses into the forest.
A broad hiking trail leads up to Béridier. At the viewpoint, the route reaches its highest point at around 670 m. It then continues through predominantly wooded terrain to the Chapelle du Vorbourg. The chapel stands below the old castle ruins, high above the Birs and the narrow gorge. The ensuing descent ends in Soyhières, the lowest point on the route.
Beyond the village, the trail climbs gently once more and passes the ruins of the Château de Soyhières. Stretches of woodland now alternate with open meadows before the first houses of Delémont reappear. After just under twelve kilometres and a little over three hours, the circular hike ends at the Delémont stop.
