Chemin du Jura

The walk from Delémont is a tour through the Canton Jura and its attractive scenery, from the heights of the Delémont Valley via the Ajoie region and the Doubs Valley, through the Combe Tabeillon nature preserve and to the Freiberge Mountain plateau with lovely, historic towns such as Porrentruy and St-Ursanne.

From Delémont railway station, the yellow-marked hiking trail leads out of the town and soon into the wooded Jura heights. It continues via Grande Roche to the Étang de Lucelle, running directly along its shore. Open meadows, woodland and small settlements then alternate until the route reaches Vendlincourt and, later, Porrentruy.

Beyond Porrentruy, the long succession of ascents and descents through the Jura continues. Seleute lies on the way to St-Ursanne, where the route passes close to the church. Further stretches of woodland and pasture then lead to Glovelier. Here, a particularly water-rich section begins along the Tabeillon.

The trail follows the stream for just over nine kilometres to the Étang de Bollement. This small lake lies directly on the route; the Étang de Plain de Saigne and Montfaucon follow. Shortly before Le Bémont, the trail climbs to its highest point at just over 1,000 m. The final section crosses open Jura meadows to Saignelégier and leads directly to the railway station.
