01/ Overview
The route
A short educational trail through woodland and across open meadows above Delémont, with gentle ascents and plenty of tranquillity away from the marked hiking trail network.
The educational trail begins at Dos le Chavelier, above Delémont. There is no public transport stop nearby; the nearest stop, Develier, St-Christophe, is around 900 m away. From the starting point, the short circuit initially leads through woodland, climbing gently as it goes.
After just over one kilometre, the route reaches its highest point at around 580 m. The woodland then opens out in places into meadows and pastures before the trail descends again. As the circuit runs almost entirely outside the marked hiking trail network, good navigation skills are helpful. After just under three kilometres, the Sentier didactique ends back at Dos le Chavelier.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
