01/ Overview
The route
A short themed trail near Choindez: uphill through the forest, out into open countryside and back to the starting point in just over a kilometre.
This short circular walk begins in Choindez, away from public transport; the nearest stop, Choindez, gare, is around one kilometre away. Named Sentier des Chaives-vie, the themed trail initially follows a waymarked hiking trail into the forest. The short ascent gains height quickly, but remains manageable at just under 80 metres of elevation gain. Forest characterises most of the route.
Higher up, the route emerges into open countryside. Near Sur Montchemin, it reaches its highest point at around 700 m. The final section leaves the waymarked hiking network and descends again between meadows and the edge of the forest to the houses of Choindez. After just over a kilometre and around half an hour in total, the circuit ends back at the starting point.
