01/ Overview
The route
A short themed trail near Choindez, leading through open countryside and woodland, away from the marked hiking network, with a gentle ascent to around 680 m.
The Sentier du Vaferdeau themed trail begins in Choindez near Courrendlin. Around 40 minutes should be allowed for the circuit of just under two kilometres. The actual starting point is not directly served by public transport; the nearest stop, Choindez, gare, is just over 500 m away.
From the starting point, the route initially crosses open countryside, climbing gradually. The forest then draws closer and characterises the second half of the trail. As the path runs entirely outside the marked hiking network, navigation is more important than following trail signs. The total elevation gain is around 90 m.
After just over one and a half kilometres, the trail reaches its highest point in the forest at around 680 m. It then descends again and leads back to Choindez. From the end point, the Choindez, gare stop is also around 600 m away.
