01/ Overview
The route
Fishermen are often met along the path. The Doubs has a unique fish population including the authentic Doubs trout with black stripes, barbel, grayling, pike and of course the elusive apron, also known as Roi du Doubs.
It is only a few steps from the Goumois, douane stop to the starting point. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail leaves Goumois and soon enters the forest. It leads gently up and down through predominantly wooded terrain. With around 200 metres of elevation gain in total, the elevation profile remains moderate.
Later, open meadows and pastures provide bright interludes between the long forest sections. Clairbié is reached after just over two hours. From there, the route continues towards Lobchez along easy hiking trails. Between the settlements, shady forest paths alternate with open sections, while the trail continues to rise and fall only gently.
Towards the end, there is one final short climb. Shortly before Soubey, the hike reaches its highest point at around 575 metres. A short descent then leads into the village. After 13 kilometres and just over three hours, the hike ends near the Soubey, village stop.
