01/ Overview
The route
A short Jura loop through open meadows, the village and quiet stretches of woodland. Near Petit Crêt, the Northern Loop reaches its highest point at around 1'120 m.
The Northern Loop begins in Les Breuleux at the Restaurant de la Balance. Covering just under five kilometres, the themed trail initially leads out of the village into open meadows and pastures. Marked hiking trails alternate with longer stretches outside the marked network. With no significant ascent, the route crosses the expansive Jura landscape and returns to a settled area near the houses of Les Breuleux. After around half an hour, the Auberge au Carrefour stands directly on the route.
The trail then climbs back into open countryside. In the final third, it reaches its highest point near Petit Crêt at around 1'120 m; overall, the elevation difference remains manageable at just over 110 metres. Towards the end, the loop enters the forest before returning to the first houses. After around one hour and twenty minutes, it finishes back at the starting point in Les Breuleux.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
