01/ Overview
The route
Rapid downhill sledging below the Axalphorn and Tschingel. Family-friendly tobogganing fun with breathtaking views of beautiful Lake Brienz far below.
The descent begins at the Windegg stop at around 1'920 m, the highest point on the route. Nearby rises the Tschingel, marking the eastern end of the Grindelgrat; the route itself remains well below the summit. From the open heights, the toboggan run leads down into the valley. Over three kilometres, it loses around 380 metres in elevation, initially crossing broad meadows and pastures.
Farther on, the forest draws closer and characterises the lower part of the descent. The route continues downhill as the open terrain gradually gives way to a landscape framed by trees and the first houses. After approximately 40 minutes, the toboggan run reaches the settlement of Axalp and ends at around 1'540 m by the chairlift valley station. The Axalp (Talstation Windegg) bus stop is located immediately beside the finish.
