01/ Overview
The route
This route starts in Bendern in the Principality of Liechtenstein and leads mainly along the Rhine dam. The wide, smoothly surfaced path and breathtaking views make this an ideal leisure area.
The starting point in Bendern is some distance from public transport; the nearest stop, Haag-Center, is around 600 m away. From here, the route initially follows a yellow-waymarked hiking trail through largely open terrain. Meadows and open spaces dominate the landscape as the trail heads south without any significant ascent.
In the second half, the route leaves the waymarked hiking trail network. Navigation requires a little more attention here, although the terrain remains easy. The highest point, at around 455 m, is reached almost imperceptibly. In total, there are only about 20 metres of elevation gain over the seven-kilometre route. After a little over an hour and a half, the hike ends in Schaan. The destination is also not directly served by public transport: the nearest connection, Buchs SG, Rheinau, is just under two kilometres away.
