Vaduz-Balzers-Weg

With Vaduz, the compact «Ländle» – as local people like to call the Principality of Liechtenstein – boasts a prestigious capital city. This is the start of an outstanding route that stretches as far as Balzers.

The hike begins in Vaduz and heads south without any significant climbs. Initially, the route passes through built-up areas and, in places, leaves the marked hiking trail network. Open meadows soon dominate the landscape, with the path continuing quietly across the broad terrain. With only around 50 metres of ascent, there is ample time to take in the changing boundaries between settlements and cultivated land.

Further on, woodland becomes more prominent. The yellow-marked hiking trail now accounts for the longer part of the route and reaches its highest point, at around 485 m, after approximately seven kilometres. It is barely more than a gentle rise in the terrain. From there, the route continues almost level to Balzers, Roxy.

A little over two hours should be allowed for the nine kilometres. The starting point is some distance from public transport; the nearest stop, Sevelen, is around two and a half kilometres away. From the finish, it is also just under two kilometres to the Weite, alte Gasse stop.
