Bergweg Kraftort Grimmiwasser

The tour leads to the legendary Red Spring, hidden all the way in the back of the Diemtigtal Valley. This rugged place of mystical powers has steep cliffs, moorlands and a rare Alpine flora in the area of the spring.

From the Schwenden i. D., Winteregg bus stop, a short approach leads to the starting point on the Grimmialp. This is where the eleven-kilometre circular hike begins. The mountain trail, marked in white-red-white, climbs steadily through open meadows and pastures. With every metre gained, the Grimmialp recedes further into the distance as the terrain gradually becomes more barren.

A little over halfway along, the route reaches its highest point near Chalberhöri at around 1,840 m. The summit itself lies off the trail. The circuit now turns downhill and, after the open slopes, enters the forest. The Tränenbrunnen spring lies directly beside the route, followed shortly afterwards by the Mutzenstube barbecue site.

The trail becomes easier on the final section and leads back to the Grimmialp. Around 700 metres of ascent have been completed in approximately four hours. From there, the bus stop can once again be reached via the short connecting path.
