01/ Overview
The route
On this diverse hike, ruins allow you a glimpse of the past, a bridge at a dizzying height will make you hold your breath and cave explorers hearts' will skip a beat. A hike right in the middle of beautiful, intact nature.
From Weissenburg railway station, the route leads out of the village and soon enters the forest. Initially, it follows a regular hiking trail before giving way to a narrower mountain hiking trail. For a while, the Buuschebach remains close by, bringing movement to the quiet forest. The trail then steepens noticeably, gaining most of the approximately 380 metres of elevation covered on the route.
Near Studigi Flue, the hike reaches its highest point at around 1'100 m. The long ascent is now complete. The ensuing descent continues largely along the mountain hiking trail, initially through forest. Towards Oberwil, the terrain becomes gentler again, open meadows replace the trees, and the village houses draw closer. After just over two hours, the six-kilometre tour ends in Oberwil im Simmental, a few steps from the railway station.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
