01/ Overview
The route
About 3.5 hours takes the round trip hike around the monument of the Diemtigal. On the mountain trail around the Wiriehorn you get the best panoramic view into the Diem-tigtal. A nice opportunity to end the hike is to drive down to the valley with a Trottinet.
The circular hike starts at the Diemtigen Nüegg bus stop in Zwischenflüh. Initially, a broad hiking trail crosses open terrain to the Schwarzeberg mountain restaurant, which lies directly on the route. The mountain trail then becomes considerably steeper. Around 680 metres of elevation are gained across meadows and alpine pastures. The 2,304-metre Wiriehorn remains off the route.
The highest point is reached just over halfway into the hike. At around 2,030 metres, the trail passes through the area around Tierlaufhore; the Gurbssattel also lies slightly off the route. The mountain trail then descends at length across open slopes. Near Homad, the route turns back towards Zwischenflüh. At the first houses, the trail becomes easier again and leads to the starting point at the Diemtigen Nüegg bus stop. The three-and-a-half-hour circuit ends there after around nine kilometres.
