01/ Overview
The route
From the start at the Klewenalp mountain station high above Lake Lucerne, the trail first leads downhill to Wangiboden. Further on, the Brämegg viewpoint boasts spectacular views of the lake and the mountains of Central Switzerland. Head back to the mountain station via Röthen.
The short snowshoe tour begins at Klewenalp; the Klewenalp stop is about 30 m away. Over open slopes and alpine pastures the track ascends, gains around 180 m of elevation and reaches just over 1,600 m. The roughly three-kilometre circuit takes about one and a half hours and remains mostly in open terrain.
Towards the highest point the view opens to the nearly conical Klewenstock, which dominates the area. On the return the trail passes the small Klewen chapel, just a few steps from the path, and then descends back to Klewenalp, where start and finish coincide.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
