01/ Overview

The route

Short snowshoe loop from Klewenalp: the marked trail leads through woodland and across open slopes to Stollen, with views of the lake and the mountains of Central Switzerland.

From the Klewenalp mountain station, reached by cable car from Beckenried, the marked snowshoe trail initially crosses open slopes. The loop soon enters the forest and descends briefly before climbing to Stollen. Along the way, views open up over the lake and the mountains of Central Switzerland.

Near Stollen, the route reaches its highest point at around 1,670 m. It then continues through the wintry woodland around the Klewenstock, whose summit rises away from the loop. At Ergglen, the ski piste is briefly crossed; the covered barbecue area is an inviting spot for a break.

Several mountain restaurants lie along the return route. Shortly before the mountain station, the trail passes the Klewenkapelle and leads through Klewenalp back to the starting point.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
