01/ Overview
The route
From Bramboden, the steady ascent leads through the rolling hills of the Entlebuch, over the Trimlegrat ridge and past a view down into the Änziloch to the highest summit in the Napf region.
The ascent of around seven kilometres begins at the Bramboden, Kirchplatz PostBus stop. In the village, Stefan Wiesner’s Michelin-starred cuisine and the charcoal-making exhibition space provide the first highlights: displays featuring images, materials and sound tell the story of traditional charcoal production. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail then leaves the houses behind and climbs across open slopes to Hofarni.
Stretches of woodland alternate with meadows and pastures as the route leads via Oberratshuse to the Trimlegrat ridge. At Stächelegg, it is worth taking in the view down into the Änziloch, a place steeped in legends of evil spirits. Here, the trail also crosses the border between the cantons of Bern and Lucerne. The mountain inn stands directly on the route.
The final ascent leads through woodland and over the broad ridge to the Napf. At around 1,400 m, it is the highest point of the hike and also the highest summit in the Napf region. After just over two hours, the route ends at the mountain restaurant on the Napf, which can only be reached on foot.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
