01/ Overview
The route
A scenic high-level hike in the Napf region: from Holzwegen up to Oberänzi, with views into the Änziloch, then across open pastures and through forest down to Romoos.
From the Romoos, Holzwäge PostBus stop, the trail begins at Holzwegen. It initially climbs across open meadows and pastures, then continues through forest to Mättebergegg. Here, the Napf region reveals its expansive character, with the hiking trail alternating between open high ground and wooded ridges.
At Oberänzi, the mountain inn stands directly on the route. From here, views open up towards the legendary Änziloch. A detour to the Napf can also be added from Oberänzi; the main route, however, continues briefly to its highest point at around 1,350 m before turning downhill.
A long descent via Änzilegi, Breitäbnet and Schwändi leads through alternating alpine pastures and forest. In the final third, the trail passes the marble run in the forest and reaches the first houses at Lingetli. Continuing past Hotel Kreuz, it enters the village of Romoos, where the route ends at the Church of St Mary Magdalene, just a few steps from the Romoos, Post PostBus stop.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
