01/ Overview
The route
Tour with a panorama: the varied snowshoe hike on the Dreibündenstein plateau connects the winter sports regions of Brambrüesch and Feldis. Impressive: the well visible Glarus thrust, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The snowshoe tour starts at the Brambrüesch stop. Initially, the route climbs uphill before soon emerging into open terrain. It then makes a long, steep ascent across broad slopes. After a good four kilometres, the highest point is reached near Furggabüel at around 2,170 m. The ascent defines the first half of the route.
A little later, the route crosses the Dreibündenstein. This elevation was once the only point where the borders of all three leagues of the Free State of the Three Leagues met, and is therefore significant primarily as a historic site. A long descent then follows across the open terrain towards Feldis.
On the final section, the snowshoe tour passes directly by Alp Raguta. From there, it is only a short distance to Mutta. After eight kilometres and just under five hours, the route ends right by the Mutta stop.
