01/ Overview

The route

This easy round-trip in direction hamlet Sporz is suitable for snowshoers who have already gained some experience on the terrain.

The snowshoe tour begins at the Lenzerheide/Lai bus shelter, Val Sporz, only about 30 metres from the official start. The route quickly leaves the settlement area for open terrain and gains roughly 200 vertical metres up to around 1,620 m, beneath Crap la Pala. From the small crest above, the view opens over the plateau; the landscape remains expansive, with occasional belts of forest in the background.

In the middle section the paths cross open meadows and gentle hills, partly off established tracks, before the descent to the hamlet of Sporz begins. Between the open areas, single tracks wind through light woodland, breaking the light and adding variety. Towards the end, the Kirche San Carlo and the Stübli are visible at some distance; the loop then returns to Val Sporz. The total distance is about five kilometres, and the net walking time is just over two hours.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
