01/ Overview
The route
This slope is not just a challenge for hobby athletes, but also for the cross-country skiers who are at the start of the Tour de Ski Lenzerheide. It leads mostly through a quiet forest landscape.
The starting point of the roughly six-kilometre trail is the Biathlon Arena in Lantsch/Lenz. However, the public transport stop of the same name is around one kilometre from the actual start. From the arena, the circuit initially crosses open terrain before soon entering the forest. Its undulating profile adds up to around 170 metres of ascent, but there are no long climbs.
After just over two kilometres, the trail passes Bualino. A little later, it skirts the old church; slightly off the route lies St. Cassian, a small cluster comprising a farmhouse and the chapel of St. Cassian. The trail then gains height again and reaches its highest point near Crap la Pala at around 1,450 m. Alternating between forest and open areas, it returns to the Biathlon Arena, which is reached again after just under two hours.
