01/ Overview
The route
An easy snowshoe hike through snowy mountain forests and across streams, away from any road or ski run. This trail with guaranteed snow leads from Bühlberg through pristine winter scenery with views of the Simmental's mighty peaks.
The snowshoe circuit starts at the Lenk, Bühlberg bus stop. Right at the outset, the route reaches its highest point at just under 1,660 m. From there, it initially descends across open meadows. The compact circuit is characterised by alternating open terrain and short sections of forest, interspersed with wet meadows and moorland.
Further along, the route loses more elevation, reaching its lowest point only in the final third. It then turns back towards Bühlberg. The return ascent accounts for the route’s total elevation gain of around 140 metres and leads from the lower-lying terrain back to the open areas near the starting point. After around two kilometres and just over an hour, the snowshoe trail finishes once again near the bus stop. The appeal of this short circuit lies above all in the close succession of meadows, forest and moorland.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
