01/ Overview
The route
A great combination of easy but still very scenic snow shoe tour is waiting for you. After a the hike to the viewpoint on the top of «Höh», snow shoe hikers will be rewarded with the most beautiful panorama of Kandersteg and the mountain range of the UNESCO World heritage site.
The snowshoe hike begins on the edge of the village; the bus stop Kandersteg, Blümlisalp lies about 220 m away. Over roughly 2 km and with about 160 m of elevation gain the route leads up through dense forest. After the first rise the Aussicht Höh opens the view across the valley. Shortly afterwards the highest point is reached near the Hellhore at about 1'320 m.
The return route descends across open terrain with scattered rock bands back into the settlement area. The mountain tavern Nico's lies roughly 300 m off the route and remains an eye-catcher from a distance; finally the circuit ends in Kandersteg.

Snowshoeing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
