01/ Overview
The route
Enjoy the serenity of Diemtigtal Nature Park on the Grimmialp Trail. At the very end of the valley, the circular hike traverses Alpine meadows with fantastic views of the peaks of the Diemtigtal valley. If you are lucky, you might spot ibex.
The snowshoe tour starts at Grimmialp; the nearest stop is about 350 m away. At first wide alpine pastures lead into a steady but easily manageable ascent. The Mutzenstube lies roughly 200 m off the route, the Tränenbrunnen about 100 m — both more like side destinations. In the final metres the snow briefly becomes steeper and reaches, near the Chalberhöri, the highest point at just over 1,570 m.
From the summit the route drops back into open pastures; open slopes alternate with short ridges, and route-finding demands attention. The loop is just under 7 km long, with roughly 380 m of ascent and takes just under three and a half hours. The descent finally returns to Grimmialp and to the starting point in Schwenden i.D., Grimmialp.
